Wayne Marshall - Chu Chu Chu

It has been a dream for Wayne Marshall. He started his career mimicking Bounty Killer at school. He is now a successful singjay, bonafied member of the "The Alliance", and a proud father. Since becoming a father Wayne Marshall is even busier. Wayne gave us a few minutes of his time to speak about his upcoming efforts, "The Alliance", and fatherhood.

Interview conducted by: Ra-Umi Alkebu Lan

Peppa Pot: Since your last album Marshall Law, what can we expect from you?

Wayne Marshall: Right now we are in the process of doing a second album, getting all the tracks together. We have tracks can do three four album long time. But it is just about waiting for the right opportunity, the right people, the right team; people with the right vision and then just moving forward.

Peppa Pot: Are you still with VP?

Wayne Marshall: No, right now I am a free agent still. But who knows? The next album may be with VP, we have some tracks together so we are currently negotiating with various companies.

Peppa Pot: Tell us about the Alliance and Tri-State.

Wayne Marshall: When we say Tri-State, you talking about Bling Dawg, Wayne Marshall and Vybz Kartel. We make plans musically according to the friendship that we have. We have a unity as friends and as musicians as well. We have unique careers but we just decided that we would come together and keep the forces, I mean united we stand and divided we fall. So we are standing to build the unity and set an example for the younger generation. But is it not really a clans thing or a ritual thing still, it is just that we as brethrens came together and said that we are going to set the powers.

Bounty Killer, Pharrell, and Wayne Marshall

Peppa Pot: Well remember when you guys came out with the Alliance. A lot of Artistes and industry people said that you were all trying to monopolize the market.

Wayne Marshall: No no no. It was nothing like that from the get go. Killer just said Alliance the same way someone would say "my entourage". I mean we are all friends. People spread a lot of rumors but at the end of the day Alliance is just a group of friends doing music, enjoying themselves, going out, chilling. It is not about locking down any business or not going on certain shows that other Artistes will be performing on.

Peppa Pot: On another note, how does it feel to be a parent?

Wayne Marshall: It is really a joy. It also threw me into manhood faster than I expected. It brought me maturity in a year! Because from the first time that I heard that I would have a youth coming into this world, it changed my whole outlook and perspective on life, it is really an experience. And now that the kid is here it is a glory and he is healthy and everything, so it is just a joy. It gives me more inspiration as an individual, an entertainer and a personality.

Peppa Pot: As an Artiste, a lot of people look to you guys as role models. You are very excited about your child and that is a good example.

Wayne Marshall: Of course! Every man that has a child and sees his resemblance with himself, his grandfather or his great grandfather, it is just a joy and there is nothing more to do than to cherish and love that child with all your might and soul. So me bun [disapprove of] a worthless father, and now that I have my child I realize even more how much we should all bun [disapprove of] them. Chu Chu.
