Alozade The song was like an inspiration. I challenged myself to write it and it came out as a hit song. It put Alozade out there. It helped me generate a lot of shows and publicity.

Peppa Pot: In the video - I see you went everywhere you spoke about in the song.

Alozade That video was like a mini tour. It was greatly received and the people gave us their full energy. We went through most of the garrison areas. It would fall short mentioning the place dem and not featuring them.

Peppa Pot: What are your plans now that you this tune ah run di place?

Alozade Listen Sky is the limit. We ah pre (premeditate) an album but right now we ah try work pon some his singles. One thing i m very much disgusted about within the business is when an artist have one hit song, put out an album, and the rest of the songs are wack. That s a major turn off for me. Right now i m working on some other hit singles so at the end of the day you get a very color-ful and flavor full album. You understand? An album that will be a lifetime achievement. The tracks that I have out there are creating some new waves. Maybe the end of the year or early next year you can look out for Alozade coming with an album.

Peppa Pot: Speaking of the studio, you produced the Chrome and Bingie Trod riddims - how did that come about?

Alozade Yes I and have one to be released soon called the Golden Arrow. It s going to feature Vybz Kartel, Busy Signal, Tanto Metro & Devonte, Spragga Benz, Assassin, TOK and many more artists. It s an uptempo riddim, just like how the Chrome was uptempo. It s a shot to watch.

Peppa Pot: How did you make the transition?

Alozade Well you done know we re born with a gift. I don t like to contain myself in one bracket, I like to expand. I was doing music and just off of my mishaps I wasn t getting the full love from the fraternity [music fraternity] so I said let me flip it into something positive. Anything that God bless you can t stop. Alozade put South Block label on the map.

Peppa Pot: Now Alozde - how you got that name?

Alozade This name was given to me by Chico and Mr. Vegas. First my name was Copper Kid. At that time you had Innocent Krew and one of the members name was Copper. It wouldn t look good for two artist to carry the same name. You understand? So they gave me that name and there was no looking back. it was like the Midas touch. Anything Alozade touch and go towards it s prosperity with God s richest blessings.

Peppa Pot: What song put you out there?

Alozade Nuh Pet Gal. That was the record for Alozade. That song is the song of all times. All when mi dead that one deh ah go always play. I can say i ve made a milestone song in my life. Without being cockity about it I feel Garden, Bad Out Deh is a next one. That s a song weh even in five ten years when it plays it still will have the place in a frenzy. Thanks to God for giving me such blessing and inspiration fi write such a song deh. Peppa Pot: How did Shotta Go Ah Jail come bout?

Alozade Listen Kartel did a song on my riddim, the Chrome. He did a song weh go, "Sit down pon it like chair likkle lady", and it was going on quite well. I did a song on my own riddim called Fat Till It Swell. Kartel used to come check mi before him bust. We used to sit down and hold vibe and reason - show him di business. Me watch him career grow. Without him being active like an artist getting recorded - he used to watch my career grow and say, "Boy Alo mi like dat new tune deh. Yes Alo reh reh" He came into the mainstream so mi seh Kartel mek we do a tune cause a long time we ah hold ah vibe. So we sit down and ah tink what kinda topic fi come with and Bling Dawg walk in an say, "Like how you go a jail wha day Kartel, and Alo just come from prison couple years ago - why you nuh write a song bout when shotta go ah jail?"

Without glorifying the prison incarceration or the whole penile institution we say we ah go mek some yute aware how prison is. Nuff man seh mi will kill dat bwoy and do the time. When dem really flop de dem know how hard it is. It s not as easy as they say. We jusa mek dem know seh stay far from these places because at the end of the day they don t receive living people in prison they receive bodies. At any given time the breath can leave your body. Remember yuh de round criminal elements [in prison] from all different walks of life and different genre of criminals. You don t know when your number will call. We just a try uplift di yute dem - but you know we haffi write it tug style same way still. It was well received.

Peppa Pot: You spent six months in prison what did you learn from the experience?

Alozade Well tell you honestly it s not a nice place to be but it s not a place to condemn cause a no dog de down de, ah human souls. Your brother, mother, sister, father, or you your very self can end up there because sometimes yuh nuh haffi pre crime fi end up ah dem places. Sometimes a little misfortune, misunderstanding, or sometimes people cast allegations against you. Even when you re very much innocent it looks as if you re guilty. It s not a place to follow - walk the straight and narrow and pray to God to keep you away from these places.

At the end of the day this place for me was like a college. There I really gained a whole leap of knowledge and it helped me propel my life and put certain things into perspective. Although mi was always a focused yute - from den - fully focused.

Peppa Pot: What new tunes you re promoting?

Alozade Listen Dads of All Time. We done mention all ah di garrison areas ina Garden - now we ah mention di man dem weh mek di area dem.

Peppa Pot: For those who don t know explain what a "Dads" is.

Alozade Listen A dads is a ting with a balance. Nuff of dem gwan with some negative ting but at the end of the day to be a Dad you still have to have a bit of positiveness to hold a community. Because it s one man controlling a whole community of people, so you haffi have a bit of positiveness to instill in your community. Mi haffi salute dem cause if a war time, when dem places get out you know it s crazy war, it take a powerful man to say yow, "Build back the community. Done with certain tings we don t waan lef a bad impression". A "Dads" is a community leader, a man that have everything on a balance. A dad would normally send the kids dem to school, if there is someone in any problem him help dem out. Him always try keep the community looking bright. He s the man that mediates between the MP [Member of Parliament]. If there s anything to be done in the community, such as road work, the politicians consult this man because this is the person that the community looks up to. He plays a very good role in mediating - either for the community or fi di politicians dem.

Peppa Pot: What area did you grow up in?

Alozade Mi grew up in Hagley Park Gardens. Midtown.

I grew up as nice kid. Although Ive grown up as kid wheh mother and father married, mi and my siblings lived in love, I was still aware of my surroundings. Music takes you through out the world. It carries you to different cultures and lets you see different ways of life. So from that you have a greater knowledge of how people handle themselves and survive. You see garrisons and certain lifestyles. You re very much in tuned. Plus the prison experience, prison - you nuh expect a bag ah doctors deh. You expect people from the different garrisons. In prison you get more of a one on one view of the garrison.

Coming out of prison you can relate more things to people. Alright if it was another artist that sing Garden (Bad Out Deh) - maybe if was a Bounty Killer it would have that effect. But now Alozade who been through the system - people say "Yo dat yute know weh him ah talk bout". Cuz we ve lived the life. Anything we put towards the people them, them can look and say "This is not an illusion he s presenting to us".

Peppa Pot: Through out your travels have you seen any garrisons in unexpected places?

Alozade Well bwoy inna Europe we see some garrison. But I expect these places to be everywhere. On television they re only going to paint the better parts to market the country. But when you go down in the real grimy parts you say "Whoa, mi neva expect this place to have some zinc and board shacks". Me, I always have an open mind and say if de here so (Jamaica) it deh everywhere. Even in the very same America. I went some places in Miami the other day and I said, "Whoa - real garrisons".

Peppa Pot: You re probably going to have to teach sociology / psychology when you re done deejaying?

Alozade Ah just more knowledge. From you live life you just gain more knowledge. You just have to live and wise up the people dem. An artist has a real role to play. Sometimes we nuih see weself as role models but through the songs you teach a lot of people - no matter how you look on it. So sometimes you have to curtail the words weh you ah seh and use them wisely.
