There is none sane who would dispute the fact that we as black people, Caribbean people, Jamaican people, no matter our origin, possess a history that is facinating, powerful and rich.

From our hair to our skin...it s just natural the way we do our thing... Our music brings joy, while embracing hardship and pain... Black people have learnt to see the sunshine, and smile through the rain.

We don t always stick together, sometimes due to petty differences. However, when we see a chance to wave our flags, we wave them high with pride. As beautiful as the rainbow.

I have spent hundreds of dollars on movies over the past few years...I enjoy supporting my own. Black film makers, writers and producers, actors and actresses have all come a long way. Each time I go to a movie and hear even a minute of reggae music, I yearn for a day when I would be able to sit up in a Loews Cinema and watch an island film on the big screen for two whole hours. Imagine seeing the commercials for a movie preview that is all our own?

Our dialect, our music...with REAL ACTORS AND ACTRESSES from the islands who know how to SPEAK THE LANGUAGE. Not someone trying to butcher the unique twang we have spent years perfecting. Patois is an art...trust mi!

On September 22nd, 2006...we will get our chance to show the world just what we are made of. We get to show mainstream that the time has come for us to have our piece of the pie. The cake big, and wi want a slice...yu seet!!!

The movie Shottas, is undisputed as the hottest movie to have never been officially released. We all have one or two bootlegg copies in our possessions. Video tape and dvd... Ain t no shame in admitting that. The only shame is that the movie never made it to the big screen the way it should have. Or is it? Maybe the best thing to have happened for Shottas is the fact that it got bootlegged in the first place. I would have loved to see it on the big screen, but it never made it there. Not nationwide anyway. Well, the time has come.

It is imperative that EVERYONE get up and hit the movie theatres across the United States on September 22nd, for the premiere of the re-edited part one of the megahit movie Shottas.

I have never met anyone who has not already seen this film...more than once. Why is that? What is the appeal? What do we love so much about Shottas? Is it Ky-Mani Marley? Spragga Benz? Louie Rankin? Mad Max [Paul Campbell]? Assassin? Mr Laing? Young Spragga and young Cess robbing the D&G truck driver? The reality of it all? The music? A sense of familiarity? That shower scene with Ky-Mani [ladies calm down]? The fact that we can all somehow relate to something in the movie, or know someone who can? Or is it the fact that Cess Silvera had the vision to go deep? America has Stephen Spielberg...we have Cess Silvera? A man with a vision beyond Shottas. A vision that will bring our island the positive recognition it deserves. A vision that will help the people of our nation, as well as others eat a food . A movie that shows man an man as bad man my not be some people s idea of showing Jamaica in a positive light. However, let s not be hypocrites here...the news coming out of Jamaica at times is the same thing. Economic success can come out of anything...

Someone wrote me and was demouncing Shottas big time...she says she is a proud Jamaican and don t think the movie Shottas portrays anything she should be proud of. Well Miss Lady, hear this...the fact that you admitted to watching the movie you denounce three times, says a lot about your confused state of being. Sort out yu ting babes...yu have issues. Everyone watch and own Scarface... Yet, if you saw Al Pacino coming you wouldn t cross the street...yu woulda shake off im han.

Support Shottas on September 22nd, the way we all did when we supported Tyler Perry and all those other movies. Yeah, yeah, yeah...some are griping that they saw it already. NOT LIKE THIS. And not in the theatres with five hundred proud islanders etc getting the goose pimples on dem neckback. Do you know how awesome the soundtrack will sound on surround sound? I don t know bout you...but when history mek...I hope Father bless me to be a part of it. I want to feel like I helped to open doors to many many more projects for our people with my movie money.

And...while we on the subject of sticking together...unno sign mi Grammy Petition yet? Stay deh and wait...when Shottas get the Golden Globe and the Oscar...unno nuh want that fi televise...???

See yu at the movies.

I ONLY HOPE THIS MOVIE WILL HAVE A POSTIVE IMPACT TO OUR PEOPLE AND THAT THERE WILL BE SOME LIGHT TO THE YOUTHS WHO WANT TO MAKE A CHANGE
